Devan Maria has had the opportunity to perform all over the United States as well as in Quebec, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary and Turkey. These performances have been varied: as a soloist, part of chamber groups, and with the NEC Philharmonia, as well as the BYU Philharmonic, Chamber Orchestra and Baroque Ensembles. Chamber music is Devan's passion, and here in Utah she performs with Swara Strings, NEXT Ensemble, Tribeca Ensemble, and serves as Patron Services Coordinator for the NOVA Chamber Music Series.
Ms. Maria actively searches for ways to serve others through music. During her time at BYU, she headed a program called Partners in the Arts which paired university students with less-privileged youth to teach music lessons. She also had the chance to co-organize Concerts at Noon, a weekly, informal, concert series for the campus population and surrounding public. While at NEC she started Cafe Concerts to fulfill the same purpose.
Devan loves to teach. Her private students have been placed in advanced ensembles and she has been praised for her patience and creativity. She keeps her own private studio as well as teaching at Prattland Music Adventrues in Lehi. Devan has also coached at the Lyceum Youth Music Festival. She loves helping bring music to the next generation.
Having recently finished a Master's degree at New England Conservatory under the tutelage of Dimitri Murrath, she also holds a Bachelors of Music degree in Viola Performance from Brigham Young University where she studied with Dr. Claudine Bigelow.
When not performing or teaching, Devan can be found traveling, spending time with family, exploring nature, or curled up with a good book.
